Albuca spiralis, often sold as “Frizzle Sizzle,” is a small, winter‑growing bulb famous for its tight, corkscrew leaves and sweetly scented yellow‑green flowers.
What it looks like
Grows from a bulb with narrow green leaves that twist into spirals, forming a frizzy rosette when given enough light.
In late winter or spring it sends up a central stalk of nodding, yellow‑green, vanilla‑scented flowers.
Basic care
Light: Needs bright light or mostly sun for strong curling; low light makes leaves stretch and uncurl.
Water: Water in the active season (autumn–spring) when the soil dries; keep almost dry in summer dormancy to prevent rot and encourage future curls and blooms.
Soil: Use a gritty, very well‑drained mix (cactus or sandy soil) and a pot with good drainage holes.
