Boswellia neglecta is a rare and striking caudiciform tree native to the arid regions of East Africa — Kenya, Ethiopia, and Somalia — where it grows in rocky, sun-baked landscapes. A member of the Burseraceae family, it is closely related to the more famous Boswellia sacra, the primary source of commercial frankincense resin.

What sets B. neglecta apart is its dramatic, swollen trunk (caudex) that stores water for survival through prolonged dry seasons — making it a prized specimen for collectors of rare caudiciforms and bonsai enthusiasts alike.
